Here’s to new adventures!!
About a month and a half ago… I mentioned to my dad that I’d really like to get an Airstream some day.
He proceeded to send me about 5 links he found on Craigslist that had Airstreams for sale within a two hour drive, all around $5000 or under.
That night, I’d called about one of them that jumped out to me. She (Airstream’s just tend to feel like a ‘she’ to me) wasn’t the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but looked to be in damn good shape for being over 40 years old and sitting for a couple a years. I had a 40 minute conversation with the gentleman selling it about the memories they’d made as a family, where he’d gotten it from, who owned it, and what kind of work she needed.
I texted my dad all of the details (after all, I know abso-freakin-lutely nothing about owning a camper!) and somehow talked he & my momma into going to check her out for me. I had them go instead of me for a couple of reasons: 1. the camper was a little under an hour from them, but 3 hours from where I was living at in Ohio, and 2. again, I don’t know a whole lot about campers and I knew I’d need my dad to help with the remodel work so I wanted to make sure he knew what he was signing up for!
The man selling her had already had a number of phone calls and people wanting to come look at her.. so while my parents were there, my mom called me, sent me a video of the inside, and they ended up walking away after putting a deposit down for me!
A few days later, my dad picked her up and hauled her home for me. Once I shared the above picture on Facebook, I quickly realized how MANY other people were airstream fans! I can’t wait to keep sharing this journey with all of y’all!
She’s still waiting on a name, but here are a few pics in all her current glory!
Isn’t she a beauty?!
